Mid-January is when Wimi-ri's wild camellia groves and the curated Hyuaeri arboretum hit their full red ??a ~30-min drive from the villa. We catch them mid-morning when the cold mist still hangs in the canopy.
The drive up to 1100 Highland in mid-January puts us in real Hallasan snow without a hike ??a flat ~30-min boardwalk through frosted pines at 1100m. Often the only group on the trail before noon.
January sunrises at Ilchulbong are crisp and crowd-free ??the basalt tuff cone catching the first amber light over the Pacific. Optional Day 3 dawn outing, ~30 min east of the villa.
